Yesterday afternoon my daughter and I went for a walk down to the river. As I held her hand she says, “Mommy, I love spending time with you, and going for walks.” Ahhh, the simple truth in a simple walk. Our little excursion to the river had a purpose. It’s to began a new year tradition. We both wrote our deepest wishes on a piece of paper. We folded it and took it with us down to the water. The evening sky was spectacular. The colors were nothing less than a masterpiece. After taking in the crisp air, we dug a small hole on the beach, kissed our written wishes and gently placed them inside. Then, we covered the hole with sand, and as my daughter drew a big heart in the spot, she whispered, “Our wishes will come true. It’s magic.” And with that, we lingered on the beach for a few more minutes. Then, I took her hand and we strolled back home, feeling completely fulfilled in life.
