The Earth

She says, she wants to be an artist. She says she wants to paint and draw pictures…

She has dreams and nightmares often, which wake her up in the middle of the night. It is believed that such graphic nocturnal visions might be due to a highly creative mind…

She begins to draw a picture quietly in the kitchen, while I’m busy doing something or other, close by… We always talk.  So, I ask “What you’re working on?”  I’m also a bit apprehensive, since she’s usually full of energy, and rarely focuses with such determination.

“The Earth.” She states, as if it’s a common, no big deal topic of any six year old. Uhhh Dah!

“Oh? The Earth?” I stop my carrot cutting, but still pretend this is just another of our casual everyday conversations.

“Yes, it’s in my brain. I see this picture in my brain,” she continues.

“Tell me about your picture.” I’m really curious to know what this is about.

“I see swirly wind, planets, stars, the moon… The boy on the moon is fishing for dream.” She begins to laugh, as though she just made up a joke. I smile for this is getting more interesting.

“What else is “The Earth?” I ask.

“It’s mountains and rocks. But the rocks are connected. They stay together like the mountains.  Like when one falls, the other follows.  And… and there are rainbow hearts.”

“So, it’s a happy place?”

“Yes, but a little sad too. There is rain falling from the sky and a big Metroid. Yeah, that could happen, you know?”

“Yeah. It could. Anything could happen. And it often does.”

…This is my favorite picture my daughter created to date. The thought, the vision and the elaboration is pretty special; well, at least it is to me. Hey, she is my daughter… And most of what she says or does is considered special and one of a kind.  That’s all I’ve got. This one and only child of mine.  If I could have more, then truly it would be a blessing… Maybe it’s just not meant to be. Maybe it’s just not part of my journey here. Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe… Countless reasons for why? or why not? But what matters most is how this young life is unfolding right in front of my eyes. Her personality, her likes, dislikes, moods, opinions… Her soul is piercing through more clearly each day. This experience in its self is a miracle. A type of miracle that has the outmost positive and spiritual influence over my life.  My world… My Earth.
