Hollywood Ending Nr. 3

Hollywood Ending Nr. 3

It was a typical August morning. The sun was bright and hazy by 9 am.  A man in some random house drank his coffee and was ready to go to work. As he closed the front door behind him and took first step down, he tripped on something under his feet. To his surprise, it was a book. The man picked it up and looked at it closely.  He opened it and read the first few pages. As his curiosity peaked, he continued reading the story. He was disappointed that such story had no ending and since he was a writer, he decided to finish it for whoever left it on his steps. He returned to his house, sat in front of his computer and began typing. After the man completed the book, he placed it back on his front steps. He thought he gave it the best ending for such unusual story…and it goes like this…

The simple girl began to wake up. The first thoughts that surfaced were of the boy, the cliff and the jump.  She jumped and now was somewhere unknown. She forced her eyes to open, for the glare was extremely bright and it was difficult to see. She stood up, and taking a deep breath in, she examined the strange location. As her eyes accustomed to the light, she noticed there was nothing familiar around. The place was barren and infinite. No physical structures, just silver formless waves flowing around her. The soft ground felt strangely firm and she began to walk. Unsure of where to go, the girl followed her instinct. She wasn’t scared, but rather confused. She didn’t venture to ask herself too many questions because somehow she knew they all will be answered soon. Moving forward she observed her surroundings. She felt peaceful and content, until she abruptly stopped. There was a figure standing in the distance. Someone else was there. The girl picked up her pace to reach the person that seemed to be waiting for her. As the distance between them lessened, she recognized who it was. She gasp, and felt her heartbeat accelerate. But she didn’t run this time. She didn’t feel intimidated. She wasn’t afraid of him any longer.  Surprisingly, she felt a certain pull towards the boy. He was completely harmless. He was smiling, waiting for her to come closer. She couldn’t explain it, but somehow she began to understand everything. All the questions were no longer valid. Nothing from the past was important, this moment was the only truth they needed. Then, she ran. She ran toward him with confidence that he was there just for her. They embraced each other. She felt his warmth spread in her body. She didn’t want to let go. He did the same. He held her tight, knowing he’ll never let go of her again. The girl didn’t need anything else, except one thing.

“Say it.” She said.

He loosened his hold.

“Give it a name.” The girl continued.

He gently placed his hand on her cheek and wiped a tear.

“Give it a name.” she repeated.

The boy gazed into her eyes and smiled again.

“Love.” He simply stated… “Love.”  And he finally kissed her.

Then, she knew she’s in heaven for certain, for this enigmatic encounter would have never happened on earth. Heaven.
