People don’t change. It’s circumstances that change, which bring out different reactions from individuals. But in reality we don’t change, we respond to what is given at a certain situation. Because life gives us a variety of events and experiences, we align and respond to them the way we know how. Thus, we don’t change, but rather do what reflects our prior knowledge in a new way. Perhaps the better word to use would be transformation or inner growth. We often hear how someone has changed because they’ve done or said something that is uncharacteristic of them. However, the odds are that the person has gone through a revelation or alternation in their life that has influenced their thinking or acting. An alteration is not a complete change from one form to another, but rather an addition or subtraction to what is already there. Our heart, our soul, our inner passion doesn’t change; it moves and is flexible to whatever life brings our way. That’s the beauty of human existence. We don’t have to be trapped in one particular way; we can adapt to the ever changing world around us, which in turn awakes a new idea, thought and reaction in the individual that is open to such invitation. Thus, be open, be flexible, be free.
